President Goodluck Jonathan First Photo Appearance Since Conceding Defeat

The Peace Accord Committee has congratulated President Goodluck Jonathan for conceding defeat and congratulating his opponent, the All Progressives Congress’s candidate, Gen. Muhammadu Buhari.

According to PremiumTimes, the chairman of the committee and former Head of State, Abdusalami Abubakar, who spoke to journalists after a closed-door meeting with the President, said the committee was spellbound when Mr. Buhari informed them that Mr. Jonathan had called to congratulate him.

“We were at the middle of a meeting with the international observers to try to see how we can still water the tension down, when gladly I called Gen. Buhari that we are going to see him,” Mr. Abubakar said. “He told me that Mr. President has called him at about 5:15 p.m. and congratulated him and conceded defeat.

“We were spellbound and the reason we have come here is to thank President Jonathan for this statesmanship. In the history of Nigeria, I think this is the first time where a contestant has called his rival to congratulate him and through this point, President Jonathan maintained a point that the blood of Nigerians is not worth his presidency and by his action he has proved that.

He has proved that he is a man of his word‎ because during our interaction on this peace committee he has always maintained that he is going to accept the result of the elections whichever way it is done. And he has proved this.”

Popular Actress Reveals Her Difficulties In Getting A Fitting Bra

Heavily endowed Nollywood actress, Ronke Oshodi-Oke has revealed that she finds it difficult getting her Bra size.

According to her,
“Getting my bra size can be very difficult. It makes it more expensive. I always want to ‘pack’ myself. I wouldn’t want to appear in a movie where I would need to run or walk fast and my boobs would be bouncing. I don’t like it. When you ‘pack’ yourself very well, when anything happens, you are ready. I have to go the extra mile to look for good bras.

“I spend at least N10, 000 on a bra. At times, I get my perfect size when I travel abroad especially in the US. If anybody is going to the US, the only favour that person can do for me is to buy bra for me. It is the only gift that I can appreciate from anybody and it would make me happy,” she lamented.

Jamie Foxx Accused Of Transphobia As He Makes Fun Of Bruce Jenner(See)

Popular American actor/comedian Jamie Foxx has been accused of transphobia after making fun of Bruce Jenner and his reported gender transition into becoming a woman.

The actor made the inappropriate comment while hosting the 2015 iHeartRadio Music Awards which held at the Shrine Auditorium in LA on Sunday. He said:
'We have some groundbreaking performances here too tonight. We got Bruce Jenner, will be here doing some musical performances. He’s doing a his and her duet all by himself.'
Jamie then added: 'Look, I’m just busting your balls while I still can.'

Although Bruce has still yet to publicly discuss his rumored gender reassignment, it didn't stop host Foxx from receiving a backlash on Twitter over his remarks. Perez Hilton was first to tweet complaining:

Bruce Jenner's daughter Kylie was supposed to be attending the awards with her rapper boyfriend Tyga,  according to a picture posted before the event which showed placecards with their names attached to chairs at the venue. However, it's unclear if she showed up to the event since Kylie wasn't spotted on the red carpet. Read some tweets below as fans came for Jamie...

''This Presidential & National Assembly Elections Is The Most Vicious Ever'' - Prof. Wole Soyinka

Nobel Laureate, Prof. Wole Soyinka, has described the 2015 presidential and National Assembly elections as the most vicious, unprincipled, vulgar and violent he had ever witnessed.

In an interview with the GuardianUK in Lagos on Sunday, the 80-year-old former political prisoner railed against what is thought to have been the most expensive election in African history:
“We’re talking about a very positive response by the public in terms of determination to register and vote but, you know, this has been one of the most vicious, unprincipled, vulgar and violent election exercises I have ever witnessed. I just hope we won’t go
down as being the incorrigible giant of Africa.”

Tall and thin with a shock of white hair and Socratic beard, Soyinka continued:
“The stakes appear to be so high that all scruples have been set aside and it’s very distressing to compare this election with the election of 1993, which was one of the most orderly, civilised and resolute elections we ever had. This one was like a no-holds-barred kind of election, especially, frankly, from the incumbency side. One shouldn’t be too surprised anyway given the kind of people who are manning the barricades for the incumbent candidate.”

Countless millions of dollars had been lavished on the election campaigns, with commercials dominating television and newspapers for the three months. Jonathan’s Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) produced a so-called documentary savaging Buhari’s character and last week paid for a 36-page advertising supplement in leading newspapers. Cities have been coated in placards and posters on a breathtaking scale.

“Most expensive, most prodigal, wasteful, senseless, I mean really insensitive in terms of what people live on in this country,” Soyinka continued. “This was the real naira-dollar extravaganza, spent on just subverting, shall we say, the natural choices of people. Just money instead of argument, instead of position statements.

And of course the sponsoring of violence in various places, in addition to this festive atmosphere in which every corner, every pillar, every electric pole is adorned with one candidate or the other, many of them in poses which remind one of Nollywood.
I get a feeling sometimes that some of these candidates were just locked in their wardrobes and they were told: ‘Just take selfies in there and don’t come out until you’ve finished the entire wardrobe.’ All kinds of postures. Just ridiculous. It has been an embarrassing exercise in terms of electioneering.”

The writer fears that Nigeria’s multi-millionaire tycoons will continue to call the tune. Nigeria is ranked 136th out of 174 countries on Transparency International’s corruption perception index.
“Obviously this money didn’t come from personal pockets only, there’s no question. It’s been bankrolled by lots of businesspeople – many of them I’m sure have been taxed indirectly – and they’ll be expecting some returns for this outlay, and so how are we actually going to get rid of this thing called corruption, if the electoral process itself has been so corrupted? It’s a money election. How on earth is that bugbear going to be lifted from the neck of society? I just don’t know.”
Soyinka also told how he was recently invited by Jonathan, who has a “boyish charm”, to discuss various issues.
“We even discussed life after power, whenever that takes place,” he recalled. “It was difficult for me to decide from his side how readily he might accept defeat. He absolutely swore that if he lost he was going back to [his home] Otuoke village. If I take him literally, I think he will accept the result, but I’ve learned never to trust any politician from here to there, even if they’re just coming out of communion. So I really don’t know.”
He added:
“I think Nigerians have had a very rough time over the last few years with [the Islamist militant group] Boko Haram and all kinds of insecurity, failure of governance and so on. I think we deserve to have this period as a period of comparative tranquillity and peace of mind to reconstruct and address some really fundamental issues of society. So I really hope the result, however gracelessly or grudgingly, will be accepted by the loser.”
If it is not, however, chaos could ensure. Although both leaders have sworn a peace pledge, it is unclear whether they can control their supporters, some of whom have threatened a violent backlash. Soyinka fears that political instability could be used as an excuse by figures in the state security apparatus to seize power.
“Even before elections there had been discussions and preparation for ‘interim government’,” he alleged. “Why on earth such a card should be on the table at all beats me. I asked President Jonathan, ‘What is this business of interim government?’
“What he said was, ‘I could never be part of it. I would consider it a downfall, a demotion. Here I am president of the nation, I was voted in by the whole nation, why should I then accept an arraignment, which is by a few people? I would consider it degrading to what I have attained in life.’ That was his expression. But President Jonathan is in a cage. He didn’t strike me as being aware of the forces which surround him.”

The author cited an incident earlier this month when Morocco recalled its ambassador to Nigeria in a diplomatic spat over whether Jonathan was trying to use the king of Morocco to win over Muslim voters. The Moroccan royal palace said the king had declined a request for a phone conversation, while Nigeria insisted that the two leaders had spoken at length. Nigeria later backed down and admitted the conversation did not happen.

“Here is a situation where a president did not even know that a foreign country, a friendly country, had withdrawn its ambassador from Nigeria. I was the one who told him. He jumped up as if his seat was on fire. I couldn’t believe it … He was not aware that for about five days the media had been absolutely hysterical with this embarrassing situation between the two. It was that very night that he made a public statement about it for the first time.

So when I say that there is a force around, I know what I’m talking about. There is a very sinister force in control and it is that sinister cabal which is responsible for caging him in and showing him what they think he should know about and keeping away from him things which are not in their interest, and this for me is the most dangerous situation that any nation can be in.”
Soyinka is scathing about Jonathan’s record as president, notably his mishandling of last year’s incident when 276 schoolgirls in Chibok were kidnapped by Boko Haram, prompting a worldwide outcry and social media campaign.
“I think he is remorseful now, but at the beginning he took it very lightly. He himself has admitted as much in public. When you are informed that 200 children are missing, you don’t go to dinner until you have got to the bottom of it.

“But it took him I don’t know how many days to believe, but it certainly took him about 10 days to react. Now, for a leader of a people that is just totally unacceptable. Two hundred people. And then his wife was telling the police to go and arrest people who were protesting. The whole of that episode, I told him, whether you win the election or not, you’ve got to do something to assuage the feelings of people over that particular lapse. That was one horrendous lapse of which no head of state should ever be guilty. You send children to school to go and take an exam, and then you’re told they’re missing. For me, the entire nation should not sleep until an answer to that assault is provided.”
But while Jonathan is too weak, critics say, his opponent, Buhari, may be too strong. He ruled Nigeria as a military dictator for 20 months in the mid-1980s, cracking down on the media among others, but claims to be a “born again” democrat who has contested three previous elections, losing every time.

Soyinka admitted:
“My memory of General Buhari has become rather mixed up. Four years ago I certainly wasn’t even prepared to consider the possibility of a genuine ‘born-again’. But at the risk of being proved wrong, I think we have a case here of a genuine ‘born-again’ phenomenon.”
The poet and playwright declined to say explicitly how he voted, but dropped a big hint by saying:
“Maybe we should all try to be a little bit of Mandela. If Mandela could actually make a leap of faith towards the Boers after the atrocities committed against the black people [in South Africa], when the moment comes and the system under which we operate has thrown up just two candidates really … I think I asked myself: ‘Who would Nelson Mandela have voted for?’ and that’s the person I voted for. That’s all I’m going to tell you.”

Nollywood Stars Reportedly Fight Over Patience Jonathans’ N3m

This is disgraceful! According to reports, the recent visit of First Lady Dame Patience Jonathan to Enugu has left a big scar on Nollywood.

This is because the police in the State are currently looking for ways to settle the bitter feud that engulfed the artistes’ community in the state over how an alleged First Lady’s largesse would be shared among top actors who attended her rally.

This feud has seemingly put one group known as Nollywood Apostles against other stakeholders in Enugu State led by Patience Ozokwor popularly known as Mama G, making it very difficult for the center to hold.

As at last Thursday, some of Nollywood’s big wigs involved were still angry and had refused to show up at the Police Area Command, Abakpa Nike, Enugu where the case was domiciled. The Area Commander had arranged for them to settle the matter amicably.

Checks reveal that Nollywood Apostles comprising some of the best faces in the movie industry including Steve Ajebo Eboh, Charles Awurum, Emeka Enyiocha, Benedict Johnson, Chinwe Owoh, and Ngozi Ezeonu among others had been featuring at several PDP campaign rallies including the one that brought Dame Jonathan to Enugu.

According to a source, trouble started after the departure of the First Lady when facilitators of the rally, Patience Ozokwor and Chinyere Wilfred were on stage giving the vote of thanks. An aide to Dame Jonathan had allegedly dropped a parcel containing N3 million into the hands of one of the actors, which he quickly cornered with the connivance of his fellow ‘Apostles’. But the cookies crumbled when the aide called Mama G aside and intimated her of the monetary gift and to whom it was handed.

“The real drama started when the actor who collected the parcel was about to zoom out of the venue in his car. Mama G re-enacted her screen roles for real. In her view, the money was meant for all the stakeholders who graced the rally and not only for the Nollywood Apostles. Mama G stood in the way of the car, yelling and asking to be crushed just as she sent someone to call the police. She didn’t mind being called witch, ashawo and all sorts of unprintable names. She blocked the car until the police came and took all the parties to the station,” a source says.

However, Steve Eboh has denied ever being involved in such a show of shame. He told Entertainer: “I never had anything to do with any money or anything like that. Don’t mind them, my brother. As I speak with you now, I am on my way to see Father Ede in Elele, Rivers State.”

For Charles Awurum, who later returned this reporter’s call after several phone calls made to him, it was denial all the way. Hear him: “I don’t know about any issues concerning Dame Jonathan’s money. I am in Port Harcourt now, please.”

On her part, Patience Ozokwor confirmed the story but she wouldn’t want to elaborate further, until after the elections. “The police have invited everyone to the station for settlement,” she volunteered.

Dr. Sid Respond To D’Banj’s Allegations That He Caused Mo’Hit’s Break-up(Read)

Late last year, the koko master D’banj was a guest on Olisa Adibua’s show ‘The Truth’, where he categorically stated that Dr. Sid broke up Mo’hits records.

Well, Dr. Sid, who has been in New York studying at the New York Film Academy, has finally responded to D’banj’s allegation.

Dr .Sid, was a recent guest on Bouqui’s Place, a radio show on Rhema House Radio, Los Angeles, anchored by popular Nigerian Female rapper, Bouqui.

On the show, a caller called in to ask Dr. Sid to respond to D’banj’s claims, and he said, ‘Obviously there’s a lot of people involved, so there are some things I can’t talk about, but in general, with every beautiful things in life, there are circles, things start and things end. Mo’hits was one of the most beautiful experiences I’ve ever had, it’s one of the things that took my career to the next level, and I appreciate every single moment I had in there, things happened, we grew older, and we grew apart, and glory be to God, every single person that was on Mo’hits records is doing well today, and that’s life in general.’

He continued: ‘With regards to someone saying that I am the cause, I just would ask any individual in their right mind to literally think how I can tell a Don Jazzy and Dbanj that have been making millions together to break up It’s not even remotely possible or remotely true. Like I told Bouqui earlier on, I am a team player, I think of the team first before myself, and that’s how I’ve always been in Mo’hits till the end. I fought for the team, and now in Mavin I’m fighting for the team, and I will always fight for the team’.

Emeka Ike Declares Himself AGN President : Claims Death Threat To His Life

The Federal High Court, sitting in Ikoyi, earlier this month nullified the election that produced Ibinabo Fiberesima as the President of Actors Guild of Nigeria (AGN) in 2012.

Since that judgment was delivered, the industry has been thrown into confusion, even as Ibinabo has stormed the Court of Appeal to challenge the judgment.

In an interview with Vanguard Emeka Ike, one of the principal actors in the matter vented his anger on the sacked President of the guild. He vows   to ensure that the court order is executed despite all odds,   alleging, however, that his life is currently being threatened for fighting for justice.

What’s the position of things at the moment?

Nothing has changed about the Federal High Court verdict voiding the election that brought Ibinabo Fiberesima into office as the President of the Actors Guild of Nigeria, and the sacking of members of the Board of Trustees of the Guild. That’s the position for now.

Has the court order been obeyed by your opponents?

They will not obey the court order and they are not obeying the verdict of the court of law. They are even calling the court ruling “kangaroo.” What an impunity!

They are yet to obey the court order. I’m hearing that she has gone to Court of Appeal, and if Ibinabo has appealed the matter, common sense demands that she should keep quiet and watch things unfold. Who’s advising her as well as her sponsors? She has appealed the matter, fine! But the appeal has not been granted, whether there will be a stay of execution or not.

It’s just a notice, but I have an order. I am the legitimate President of AGN as we speak now. I don’t know who is giving Ibinabo the wrong impression that the court did not pronounce me the President of AGN.

If the Chief of Staff of Mr. President goes to court on behalf of the government and wins the judgement against the opposition, would you say he did it in isolation? It’s an issue of the excos, and one of my excos who happens to be my treasurer went to court to obtain a judgement against Ibinabo. So, it’s a victory for all.
What’s the way forward?

We have to proceed with everything we can to make them understand that the rule of law is sacrosanct. No matter the amount of money they have to throw around, the rule of law must prevail in this matter. They must obey the court order, and where they refused to do so, we will use all legal means to bring them to submission. We are not afraid of what they can do. In fact, the worse they can do is to pump bullets into our bodies. They are already threatening our lives. They even told my wife that she should either advise her husband or become a widow. Are they planning to kill me?

Of course, I am not afraid to die fighting for justice. I am not scared of the things that the evil men can do to the physical body because the soul is more superior than the physical body. If they think they can take the body away, I have made my point.

This judgement has justified me despite all the scandalous things they have said about me on the pages of newspapers; all the blackmailings and invasion of my privacy; I have not said Ibinabo has five children from five men, neither have I reminded her that she has a case to answer with the Lagos State government. I’m not saying anything that has to do with her personal life.

But I am telling her that she’s no longer the President of AGN, and that those people who are doing everything to secure her position are doing so because of their own personal gains. The young actors and actresses are being disenfranchised. It’s only for the few who would pay Ibinabo’s game, and among the few, the list keeps dropping as another new list emerges. So, it’s a case of ‘use and dump’, which is the normal game in politics. If she is introducing the same in the entertainment industry, we have to resist it.

What have you done about the threat to your life?

I have made complains to the law enforcement agency and they will invite them very soon. I am crying out that Ibinabo and her followers want to kill me.

Last week, Segun Arinze suggested that the industry should declare you persona non grata?

That shows the depth of his knowledge. On what bases will you declare somebody a persona non grata? That I got a judgment and that I am right in my claims. If you don’t have enough facts to persecute the case, you’d better withdraw. Don’t call for assistance or begin to attract sympathy. This is not about me, but it’s about the aspiring actors who have been disenfranchised.

You don’t make people feel that you are connected enough to disobey the court order. It’s only a stain on your personality. Since last week, I have been receiving congratulatory messages from the elders of the industry. They have been thanking me for liberating them from the strongholds of Ibinabo and members of the Board of Trustees. Have you not heard about a lot of irregularities going on in the Guild? Where are all the monies they are making in the name of the Guild? Where is the office space?

Two-bedroom apartment located somewhere in Surulere, and the apartment has been there before Ibinabo assumed office. So, what has she achieved since she came into office? That she facilitated Chike Byran’s travel to India for kidney transplant; Was that the only achievement she has recorded with all the monies she’s making in the name of the Guild. Where are the papers for the parcels of lands she collected on behalf of the guild in Abuja, Lagos, Anambra among other cities?

But people believe Ibinabo’s admininstration has transformed the guild?

Mention one actor or actress that has been insured. How is the health insurance working? Which company insured us and where are the papers? All these things are empty claims. That she assisted Prince James Uche and other ailing actors financially: I also assisted Prince James Uche from my personal purse, and I did not make noise about it. I also contributed to Emeka Ojukwu, when he had a problem too.

A leader must have a programme of action. Tell me, which programme has pursued since she came on board? The only thing she has done is that of exposing us to the government because of her relationship with the government in power. But then, the closeness is not properly harnessed, because the financial gifts the government in power is giving to the industry through Ibinabo is not reaching the grassroots. Then what are we talking about.
What’s your dream for AGN?

My dream is to see an AGN where every member has a pride of place in the guild; Where issues affecting the guild will be addressed by the members themselves, and allowing the leadership to implement whatever decision they have arrived at.

From 2007, when this case was first instituted, till date, can you put a figure to what you have spent so far?

There is no figure whatever that can make justice achievable to a common man on the street. But I can tell you, I have spend well over N10 to N12 million on this matter. For instance, since last week, all my state chairmen have been in Lagos on my bill. It has happened like that over ten times.

MEANWHILE reacting to the Federal High Court judgment during the week, at a press conference held at the guild’s secretariat in Surulere, Lagos, the Board of Trustees,BoT, of the guild, declared that Emeka Ike did not get any judgment or victory against its members. Speaking through its Chairman, Prince Ifeanyi Dike, the Board maintained that Emeka Ike cannot be the President of the guild because he was not joined in the suit with St Maradona Mikevine, in which judgement was delivered on last Monday.

Hear him:
“We have decided to talk to the press concerning what have been dished out by Emeka Ike concerning his litigation with the members of the Board of Trustees of the Actors Guild of Nigeria. Emeka Ike has been telling the world that he has won his case against the Board of Trustees of the guild, and that he has been declared the President of the body. We need to correct this falsehood deliberately being peddled around obviously for political gains of the bearer of the false information.”

“The truth is that Emeka Ike did not get any judgement or victory against members of the BoT of AGN. His case is suit number FHC/L/CS/365/2011 and it is still pending before Honourable Justice Tsoho of the Federal High Court, Lagos. It has been adjourned to Thursday, April 16, 2015 for hearing of the objection filed by Emeka Ike against the appearance of our new counsel in the matter. If the case is still pending in court, how can the same court declare him to be the President without deciding the matter finally? This is the central issue for resolution in that case.”

Continuing, Prince Dike, who was flanked by Sunny McDon, the Secretary to the Board, and the BoT’s lawyer, Nnaemeka Amaechina said,
“The truth is that another case filed by St Maradona Mikevine Johnson V Board of Trustees of the Actors Guild of Nigeria suit number FHC/L/CS/734/2012 was decided by the court on March 16, 2015. In that case, the court ruled among other things that the term of office of the members of the BoT of AGN has expired. We have since appealed against that decision.

“One of the planks of our complaint is that the members of the BoT, whose tenure was declared to have expired, were not made parties to that action. Despite this complaint, the court, in its infinite wisdom, found against us and we have appealed to the Court of Appeal against that decision.”

“Apart from appealing, we have also filed motion for stay of execution. The implication of filing stay is that the court judgment has not become operative until the motion for stay is decided either in our favour or against us.Despite this motion, which is pending, Emeka Ike has been sending thugs to unleash violence in order to take over the office of the president of AGN. This is lawlessness in its extremity.

In this case, Emeka Ike did not get judgement to start with. Assuming he got judgement, he cannot execute it by himself or through thugs but through court officials, whose responsibility it is to do so. He cannot take laws into his own hands. The fact remains that he did not get judgement, so, he cannot execute any judgement.”

Dike, however, revealed that Emeka Ike ceased to be a member of the guild since 2009, when they published a disclaimer on him in the Daily Sun, adding that
“Even in the action filed by Emeka Ike, he is contending that 17, Ajao Road is not the office of AGN. We wonder why he should come here now to seek to cause commotion.
