A jilted girl, identified as Chinnoye, a native of Umunede, Delta state, has allegedly killed two brothers with poisoned 5-Alive orange juice during Sunday’s Easter celebration.
It was reliably gathered that Chinnoye had, three years ago, dated one of them, a graduate of Theatre Arts from the state-owned University Abraka, who promised to marry her after his studies.
But this was not to be as Monye later graduated and flew abroad with another girl without completing the compulsory National Youth Service Corps scheme.
Checks revealed that the jilted girl had picked up her pieces six months later, and later enrolled in a fashion institute.
On her way home from work last Thursday came in contact with Monye, who was said to have begged for forgiveness and promised to make an amend.
According to sources, Monye allegedly offered her some money, promising to visit her on Easter Sunday.
Unknown to Monye, Chinnoye had a sinister motive. She had told a close friend that she hoped to settle her scores using a poisoned juice drink. When Monye and his younger brother Jude visited Chinnoye, she offered them food that was generously accompanied by assorted drinks.
Police authorities in Umunede have confirmed that the girl is still being held for further investigation, while an autopsy is being conducted on the deceased.
