 Nollywood actor Desmond Elliot won the Lagos state House of Assembly election and would proceed to the State Assembly where he'll be representing Surulere Constituency 1. He took to his Facebook wall to express his gratitude to everyone for believing in him and voting for him. Below is what he wrote...

"Today marks a new phase in my life as I have officially launched my journey into the Nigerian Politics, firstly I would love to thank the people of Surulere for truly believing in me and my dreams to bringing out new energy and new enthusiasm to our place, today I reaffirm all my promises to you, we have attained victory together and together we shall also attain The Change We Desire. I also want to extend my profound gratitude to everyone who has supported me in this cause, my friends, fans and well wishers. May God bless you all!".

Desmond Elliot Allegedly Bribing Voters(See Photos)

 A photo of Nollywood actor turned politician, Desmond Elliot, with money in his hand and surrounded by people and the police, making many to conclude he shared money as some kind of bribe to get voters to vote for him. He's contesting for Lagos House of Assembly today.

Popular Actor Turned Politician Desmond Elliot, Reacts To AGN Crisis

 Last week, the leadership of Nigeria’s booming movie industry Nollywood, a body reputed to be the third largest entertainment platform in the world went into a crisis after its President, newly married Mrs. Ibinabo Uche Egbuka was sacked by a High Court Judge, Justice James Tsoho in a suit filed by an actor, St. Maradona Mikevine  who  was the national treasurer in the election that produced another popular actor, Emeka Ike as AGN President.

 Reacting to all the drama star actor Desmond Elliot, who’s also warming up as the APC candidate in the forthcoming Lagos House of Assembly elections for Surulere Constituency 2, frowned at the plots to remove the hard working lady who he believes has done so much to lift up the image of Nollywood.

 Ironically, the handsome actor, Desmond Elliot is of the APC fold while the embattled Actors’ Guild of Nigeria president Ibinabo has been working closely and assiduously with other top actors for the incumbent president’s re-election but that notwithstanding, Desmond is of the opinion that, there’s no need changing the winning team for just a flimsy selfish reason.

 “Firstly, we appreciate the laws of this country and believe so much in this nation, but however, we have seen the marked changes and ray of hopes Ibinabo has brought into the guild, it’s just a trying time, I see her triumphing at the end which goes out to show that, whatever the case, good deeds shall always overrule evil in any pursuit of greatness. 

 Let me reiterate that relevance is not by going to the law court but by your little contribution to the growth of this industry, time and history will not forgive those who have benefited in terms of popularity and financial gains and have done nothing other than join heads to cause chaos in our industry, we know who’s who, we know those who meant well for this industry and we must not allow them to put spanner in the works. But God is with Ibinabo in this fight, Nigeria is with her. Desmond is with you and together we shall free this guild and make it a stronger union for the future generations of the unborn entertainers” he concluded.

Desmond Elliot Wins APC Primary Elections, Kenny Saint Best Loses

 Nollywood actor, Desmond Elliot has emerged as the candidate to represent All Progressive Congress (APC), Surulere constituency in the incoming Lagos State House of Assembly (LAHA), election in 2015, after winning the ticket at APC primaries held in Lagos on Tuesday.

 Desmond Elliot defeated his counterpart, Mr. Kabiru Lawal to win the primary elections this afternoon.

 Meanwhile, another celebrity Kenny Saint Brown (KSB) who also contested in the primaries to represent Ikeja constituency at LAHA , lost her political bid to to Mr. Folajimi Mohammed, son of National Publicity Secretary of APC, Alhaji Lai Mohammed.

"People Don’t Believe I Am A Lagosian" - Actor Turned Politician Desmond Elliot Says

 For months now, many Nollywood stars and entertainers have been revealing their intention to join politics, some of them have already picked up party tickets. 

 And among them is ace Nollywood actor Desmond Elliot who has declared his intention to represent Surulere constituency in Lagos State House of Assembly under APC. Desmond had shocked a lot of Nigerians and was mocked for it when he added “Olusola” to his campaign name. 

 A few days ago, he released his campaign poster and manifesto for his House of Assembly ambition and here's what he has to say about people not knowing he had Yoruba blood in his veins.

Speaking with City People, Desmond said:

“I am from Lagos state. My father is from Olowogbowo in Lagos Island but my mother is from Delta state. I refer to myself as being a Pan-African. People don’t believe I am a Lagosian because I seldom act in Yoruba movies. And I didn’t include the Shola in my name. Then because my surname is also English, many couldn’t differentiate which made people confused of where exactly I am from. I am very detribalised. People of my constituency know my story and know where I come from. I have always used Shola in my primary school days. I went to Air Force Primary School in Plateau and later attended St John’s College, both in Jos. I proceeded to Lagos State University where I studied Economics and graduated in 2003.″ 

 On his reasons for joining politics, Desmond explained that joining politics for him is an ambition he has been nursing for many years but only joined since this is one of the appropriate time to declare his intention. Hear him: 

“Politics has been in me for many years but I wanted a party which was progressive. My choice of APC was because its stronger and progressive. The party is one you can identify with. This is also a good platform and a good party. It has lots of programs that cater for people’s welfare. It has so much differentiated itself from all others. This is one of the reasons why I decided to join the party” he explained.

What is his agenda if he eventually emerges the winner in the forth coming election? 

Security and Housing for more people. Welfare insurance, Housing for more people, road usage, protection of entertainers against abuse of creativity, content right protection which is on ground but not enforced. A lot more we can do to make the state a cosmopolitan and mega city”.
