Google restores Linda Ikeji's Blog After Reconcillation drama between Linda and MrAyeDee

'Never say die' is a good title for the Linda Ikeji/ Mr AyeDee drama that has captivated the entire blogosphere for some weeks now. This is a story of friendship and love turned anger and hatred.
Following a series of complaint from one Mr.Aye Dee, Google had no choice than to take down Linda Ikeji's site.
According to information posted by Linda, Aye Dee whose full name is Mukhtar Alexander Dan’Iyan confessed to reporting her to Google because she did not reply his emails and messages for over a year.

Excerpts of a recent conversation between Linda and Aye Dee were posted on Linda’s blog by the blogger and it depicted a deeply troubled Mukhtar who was afraid and angry Linda was deliberately ignoring him and decided to take matters into his own hand by terminating her blog.
Linda Ikeji summarized the episode thus, “You see, my good friend and biggest supporter Alex 1976AD told me he was Mr Aye Dee. The same guy who started this.

The guy that got Google to shut down my blog. It wasn’t about plagiarism or copyright infringement.
“Mr dear friend Alex 1976AD aka Mr Aye Dee wanted to be back in my life and he felt the best way to get my attention again was to shut down a blog I’ve slaved for almost eight years. And because he knew what to do and had the resources, he succeeded.”

In the exposé, Linda said Google let him succeed by not checking with her before yanking her blog off the internet.
Google however restored her blog yesterday but not after Linda had already threatened to dump their blogspot hosting service and take her business elsewhere.

Her words, “I’ve been in touch with the people at Google…some of them say they may return the blog but I’m no longer interested. If they can’t protect me from people like Alex/Aye Dee, then there’s no point continuing to do business with them. I’m going to continue blogging from my own domain name – lindaikejionline.com. (cyber-squatters have taken everything else)”.

It's good she is back to business but this whole drama has thought everyone not just Linda a lot.If for one thing, she is back even stronger.

Google speaks on the Shut Down of Linda Ikeji's blog

Everyone is still surprised and amazed that Google can shutdown a blog as big as Linda Ikeji's blog. While many are pointing accusing fingers at the man above, AyeDee who threatened to see to it that her blog is deleted for alleged plagiarism, Punch contacted Google’s Manager for Communications and Public Affairs, Anglo-Phone West Africa, Taiwo Kolade-Ogunlade, and he gave reasons why the blog was shut down
“Google as an organisation takes issues of copyright seriously and belongs to a group of digital companies that respect copyrights.
“Copyright is a big deal and this is why you can’t just go and pick up another person’s intellectual property or content and lay claim to its ownership.

“That is why we have copyright guidance. I don’t know if Linda picked up any content and I don’t know what content is the bone of contention-neither have I looked into the complaints personally.

“But it is not a case of witch-hunting and has nothing to do with Linda Ikeji’s personality or anyone else because there is a process, and irrespective of who you are in the world, that process would apply to you,” Kolade-Ogunlade explained.

“Let’s respect other people’s rights and intellectual property. Making money off other people’s content without permission is wrong. Although the Internet is inanimate, it is the content on it that gives it life. These are the issues.

“Whenever owners of online contents come after you accusing you of using their content, it is because they have families to feed and businesses to sustain.

“People should also understand that copyrights does not only apply to text, but also extends to literary works, images and photographs, music files and MP3s, movies, movie trailers and videos as well as software,”
As much as i hate plagiarism, it is very common in this part of the world,no blogger can claim they are not part of the system. No matter what anyone says, people went after Linda Ikeji because she was very successful and because she allowed them to, she refused to stay ahead of the game, she refused the advise of colleagues who told her to moved to a paid service as Google's free service comes with a lot of restrictions.
