My Mother In-Law Said I'll Die Like A Fowl - Man Cries Out As He Narrates Ordeal

After an off and on 8-month-old marriage between one Mr. John Obah, 37 and his 21 year old wife, Gift, the couple are now free to go their separate ways.

Their union was dissolved on Friday January 23rd, at the Ikorodu customary court, Lagos, over the constant harassment from the husband’s mother-in-law.

John Obah, a trader, reportedly approached the court asking to divorce his wife over allegations that his mother in-law always came with dangerous weapons to fight him each time they had misunderstanding.

“My wife often goes to her parents’ house and stay overnight for three times in a week. Anytime I have a misunderstanding with my wife, my mother in-law usually comes to fight me with dangerous weapons. I will be physically abused and my clothes torn by both of them; my mother in-law usually curses me that I will die like a fowl. Upon the incessant threat from my mother in-law, I changed the padlock to the house but they still came to burgle it. Anytime she demands for money and I don’t give it to her, her mother will come to insult me.

Although our disputes were later settled by my father in-law but I don’t think I can cope with their continuous trouble making.”

Refuting the allegations leveled on her, the estranged wife, and a mother of one, said her husband battered her so much that she usually runs to her parents’ house for safety.

According to her, “He doesn’t even respect my parents and he has not been taking good care of me. I am no more interested in the marriage; I want to go back to school.”

Presiding over the case, the court’s President, Mr. Olu Adebiyi, in his judgment, granted the
couple divorce and warned them to refrain from harassing and molesting each other.

He also ordered the petitioner to pay the sum of N5, 000 to the respondent for the monthly upkeep of their only six-month child and that the child should be in the custody of the mother. He also warned the mother in-law to steer clear of the petitioner’s ways.

Touching : Baby Born With No Eyes

3 months old Richie Lopez, pictured above, is a baby boy that was born without eyes to a family in Arizona.

According to his mother, Kelly Lopez, she had a completely normal pregnancy. Her ultrasounds never hinted her son would be born without eyes. However, hours after Richie's birth at Banner Desert Medical Center in Mesa, Lopez became concerned when her son still had not opened his eyes.

The staff, at first, thought his face was simply swollen from birth. Thirteen days later, his mother says.

An MRI showed Richie did not have eyes.
"I think we were just in shock. Obviously very upsetting," she told 3TV. "The first thought through your mind is, how did this even happen and how was it not even caught?"
The family still has no answers, and various doctors have said that the condition is extremely rare.

At seven weeks, Richie had expanders placed in his eye sockets, which are designed to allow the socket to grow and one day be able to hold a prosthetic eyeball. They were held in with sutures, but during feedings and burpings, Richie managed to rub them both out.

One was lost and presumably eaten by the family dog. Lopez found the other, and while on the phone with a surgeon at 2 a.m., she was able to re-insert it.
"It was so emotional, but I knew I had to do it. I knew that he needed this and I had no other choice; we were going to get it back in," Lopez recalled.
The family members quickly developed a positive attitude, but they are still learning to deal with insensitive comments from people in public. Richie now wears a pair of baby sunglasses.

Doctors told the family Richie does have an optic nerve, which keeps hope alive about him being able to see one day.

"That would be amazing," his mother said. "I do hope that one day that they'll be able to either grow an eye or transplant an eye."

Richie is already enrolled in developmental programs designed for blind babies and plays with specially designed toys. The family is determined to see him live a life that is challenging but full.

40 And Single, Woman Marry Herself In Lavish Wedding Ceremony(See Photos)

How is this even possible? Yasmin Eleby from Houston, Texas(pictured above), promised herself when she was much younger that if she hit 40 and wasn't married, she would marry herself. And so when she hit 40 recently and wasn't married and didn't even have a man, she kept that promise to herself. Yasmin threw herself a full wedding, complete with a candlelit ceremony.

She had her mum walk her down the aisle, and had her sister who is a minster, help her say vows, in a spiritual ceremony - because you can't legally marry yourself in America. Her other three sisters were her bridesmaid and her friends attended. The wedding took place at Huston Museum of African American Culture (HMAAC), on Saturday, January 3, 2015.
