Majek Fashek Breaks Silence on his Alleged Poverty Status, Slams Press

 Nigerian reggae legend, Majekodunmi Fashakin aka Majek Fashek who has been in the media of recent for his poor health has replied to various allegations about him been broke.

 According to Majek, the press in Nigeria have been hounding him, and writing negative stories about him.

Speaking to Encomium Weekly, Fashek who has had a long battle with drugs said the press is blackmailing him, although he didn’t say why.

 “The Nigerian press, the print in particular, not electronic, have been blackmailing me. They are trying to ruin me, writing all sorts of things against me. I did nothing” he said.

Last month a Nigerian blogger narrated his chance encounter with Majek Fashek whom he described as a “a loony figure. Pants sagged, dirty black underwear showing, a caftan perched precariously on his extra lean shoulders, shock of long unkempt dreadlocks cascading down his head and teeth yellowed by years of hard living and a face still surprisingly handsome despite the ravages of illicit living. This was Majek, my hero, the one who brought down the rain.”

Majek Fashek has dismissed this story, and provided his own version of the event.

“It’s not true. The thing is I’m a Rasta Man and a prisoner of conscience. These are my two movements. And a prisoner of conscience and Rasta Man does not avoid the poor. Poverty is a sin, I cannot discriminate against the streets, even though I am a millionaire. I have $100, 000 in one of the biggest banks in America. I’m not a careless man. I’m a father with four boys. What happened was the hotel I was staying didn’t have light and they didn’t put on the generator. I was bored. So, I went into the streets to buy myself a drink. I like Guinness, sometimes Apeteshi or malt. I use the Apeteshi to consult with the holy spirit. 

The Nigerian print is trying me, I will pour fire on them. Don’t they want me to live? You people, the media control the world. People believe whatever you write. You control even the presidents of the world. The area boys and girls are the ones that saved my stardom. 

I didn’t even know that guy wrote this thing came to investigate me. Is he CIA? I even bought him bread that day” said the singer popularly referred to as the rainmaker. Majek Fashek also says he has a bungalow at Ogba in Lagos.

 The music legend revealed that he stopped his family from coming to see him a few years ago because it wasn’t practical for them even though they were missing him.

 “I told them not to, especially because my first son, Randy he has a good job with the American government with a wife and children. And I didn’t want him to risk all that” he revealed.

 UK-based writer and socialite Yetunde 'Bustline Oduwole, released a video yesterday on Youtube where she came for her ex, comedian and actor Babatunde Bernard, popularly known as Babatee. In the clip, Yetunde spoke on how Babatee, who is now dating someone else, had been embarrassing her on social media and taking drastic measures whenever they quarrel.

 She warned him to stop, saying that people don't offend her and men who hurt her don't progress in life. She said she told God to greatly punish any man who offends her and mentioned an ex whose wife had to call her to beg for forgiveness on behalf of her husband who hadn't progressed in life for ten years because he did her wrong. They will come with all the lies because they know that women respond to the things they hear. The lies are just so crazy. And I’m not some 19 year-old who just wants to have fun. I’m not in that place anymore. So I’m taking my time to get it right.

On being in love

 I miss the late night phone calls, and the never-ending text messages. I miss that strong sense of desire that exists between two people who can’t get enough of each other. I miss that rush of adrenaline, the weakness at the knees and that joy that makes you laugh even when there’s nothing funny. I just miss loving someone and being loved in return.

Her relationship with Ice Prince...

 I wasn’t in a relationship with Ice Prince; he was just a friend to me. I don’t understand the kind of attention he was trying to draw to himself by claiming we had a relationship. If he wanted to say the truth, why didn’t he just say it from the beginning? All along he’d been saying that we’re friends and all of a sudden he turns around to claim that it was more than a friendship. C’mon!

On Iyanya: 

We did have a relationship. I loved him at a point. It just didn’t work out.

On dating him again..

 Never! It’s like eating your vomit. No way! It’s not happening ever. As a matter of fact I’m not interested in anybody in the arts, because it is not the right place to invest time and emotions. A lot of entertainers have so much on their table, so they would not give the real thing. I know my values; I am loyal and straightforward, but a lot of entertainers are not like that. They would just lie to you and waste your time. That is because, like pilots, entertainers go around a lot. In every country a pilot goes to, he can decide to have a wife or girlfriend. So they can actually lead like a hundred different lives and none of these women will know.

On what she's learnt from past relationships:

 Don’t believe the hype. Don’t believe all the things men say. A man who is all-sexual from the very beginning is a no go area; he just wants to jump into bed into you. If a man truly loves you, and is ready to be with you, he will be there for you. Relationships are much more beautiful when it starts as a friendship. So you are able to goof around with the person. I love goofing around. I love to be myself and do funny videos. That’s why people think that John Dumelo and I have a thing, because John is such a perfect friend.

 Anna and some of her friends had been traveling in a bus while sightseeing around Moscow when they stopped at the bridge to take photos. Anna moved away from the group to take a selfie with her camera in front of her, unfortunately the fence she leaned on to take the pic was in bad condition, and gave way. She plunged 40ft to her death.
