Two persons are feared dead with 20 others hospitalised in various hospitals in Plateau State after consuming excessive quantity of salt and bitter kola to prevent Ebola Virus Disease (EVD) attack.
The two, according to ThisDay, were rushed to the hospital by their family members after they suddenly collapsed in the morning, having consumed too much of salt over night. They later died of high blood pressure in the hospitals. According to medical personnel in the hospitals where the other patients are currently taking treatment in Jos, some developed ulcer, while others stool profusely, having consumed the table salt in excess.
Messages advising Nigerians to take their bath with hot water mixed with salt in order to avoid the Ebola Virus disease had gone viral yesterday. The same mixture was also recommended to be taken to ward off the disease. And of course we know this supposed advice is completely false. Source
I know some wicked nigerians are going to use this ebola virus now to start inventing some useless medicine to make money. Pls my fellow nigerians there is no cure for ebola. Just try and avoid hand shakes uunprotected sex on sweat pls. Do not waste your money buying rubbish salt .
