Forbes World’s Highest Paid Musicians For 2012

Forbes has released its list of highest-paid musicians and unsurprisingly, the top spot this year is not held by a popstar or rock band, but a doctor – of beats. Aftermath Records CEO, rapper and beat maker, Dr. Dre earned a cool $110 million between May 2011 and May 2012 to earn that enviable position. However, most of that paycheck had nothing to do with the production of music, though as he earned the vast majority of it from his über-trendy headphone line, Beats by Dre.
Others leading the pack: Roger Waters (a founding member of Pink Floyd) with $88 million, Elton John with $80 million, U2 with $78 million and Take That with $69 million. Now that’s a top 5 with just one American and none of them’s currently in the top 10 of the Billboard singles chart.
Bonjovi comes in at 6th with $60 million. Britney Spears, the highest-earning woman, comes in at No. 7 with $58 million. Taylor Swift tied Paul McCartney for the eighth slot. Both raked in $57 million over the course of the year.
Other hotshots: Justin Bieber rounds out the top 10 with $55 million, Rihanna lands at No. 12 ($53 million) and is followed by Lady Gaga ($52 million), Katy Perry and Diddy tied for 15th ($45 million) and Beyonce out-earned husband Jay-Z ($40 million and $38 million). Adele and Kanye West hold the joint spot at No. 22 with $35 million.

I Married My Wife Out Of Sympathy – Actor

Is it possible to marry someone out of pity, stay in the marriage for 8-years and even have kids with that ‘pitiful partner? Award winning actor, Joseph Benjamin did all that.
According to the hunky actor from Kogi state, he married his wife out of pity when she got pregnant with his baby while they were still dating.
The actor opens up a can of worms in a recent interview he granted and here are excerpts below:
What Really Happened in his Marriage?: “I was married for 8 years. It was a rather odd situation at that time. She got pregnant and I didn’t want to have a child out of wedlock and so I married her so we could build a home together for the unborn child. Things weren’t rosy then, but I believed it was the right thing to do for the sake of the child. I overlooked my own personal desires, I just wanted to do right. Our second child came and I stood by my family like I always have; but no one is perfect, we had our issues – the crisis persisted but we stayed because of the kids. But you never make that kind of decision because if the parents are not happy together then the children suffer.”
Is Your Wife Older Than You?: ”She is not older than me, and she wasn’t taking care of my financial needs as people have insinuated. We were both starting off in life on the same grounds – no one was exploited. I’ve been separated for a year now but we still keep a good relationship, and our separation was a mutual agreement. She is a good woman but I could not go on with the union anymore seeing the foundation it was built on was untrue. I have two wonderful children – a ten year old daughter and a seven year old son. They are an integral part of my life; their mum and I have a very good arrangement on how to balance their lives and make sure that psychologically they are stable and unaffected by our separation.”

Naeto C Reacts To Fraud Allegation… Claims His Signature Was Forged

Hip-Hop maestro, Naeto C, has reacted to news reports making the rounds bothering on allegations of fraud levelled against him by one Muhammad Nura, of Fine Boy Swag (FBS) Entertainment.
In a statement made available by his publicist, Naeto C set ‘to clear the air and set the records straight’ even as he claimed his signature was forged.
The statement reads in part:
With reference to the news making the rounds on entertainment blog portals and social media platforms about our client Naeto C defrauding a show promoter of certain amount of money, we would like to clear the air and set the records straight.
Naeto C actually made the trip to Abuja to fulfill his end of the agreement subject to receiving full payment for the said event which was supposed to be a day before or on the date of the engagement.
When it became apparent on the day of the show that the promoters were not forthcoming with paying up the balance, our client declined to grace the show with his presence especially as he had held up his end of the bargain regardless of the show being 3 days to his wedding.
Most significantly, the signature on the agreement document is not that of our client and this act of forgery is not only distasteful, but criminal.
The sum deposited is a fraction of the total amount which was agreed upon and stated in the agreement document as payment for his services.
Naeto C as a brand is of the premium stock. His life is well documented in the public’s eye from his family background to his upbringing, educational background, and his career as a musical artiste.
Every established show promoter knows it costs considerably more than the figure in question to book Naeto C for a performance.
That said, we will explore all options made available to us within legal bounds of the constitution of Nigeria, including suing for fraudulent practices (forgery of signature) and defamation of character if we deem it fit, if these false claims and accusations are not retracted and a letter of apology issued.

Naeto C Accused Of Fraud

Nigerian rapper and big shot act Naeto Chikwe better known as Naeto C has been accused of fraudulently obtaining money froma certain ‘Fine Boy Swag (FBS) Entertainment’ outfit over a show he was paid to perform at.
According to a statement made available to NET, FBS Entertainment is claiming that they contracted the Storm Records artiste to perform at a show which was scheduled to hold at Cubicle Arena, Maitama Garden, Maitama on July 18, 2012 by 5:00pm.
FBS states that Naeto had agreed by signing a one page contract agreement dated July 12, 2012.
They also alleged that a sum of N400,000 (Four hundred thousand Naira) was paid into the rapper’s Guaranty Trust Bank (GTB) account.
Naeto C defaulted in performing as agreed in the contract signed, and also failed to pay back the money paid in respect of the contract four hundred thousand Naira (N400,000.00) being the deposit paid in respect of the contract’,Muhammad Nura, a rep for FBS said in the statement.
His actions as stated above apart from being a breach have also constituted an obtainment by false pretence which constitutes an offence under the laws of the Federal Republic of Nigeria.
We hereby write to inform the general public of the activities constituting a betrayal of trust and serious criminal offence which should be accorded attention by all concerned’, Nura continued.
FBS Entertainment also say they have written the Economic and Financial Crimes commission (EFCC) about the matter as the rapper’s alleged actions has made their company to ‘suffer damages’.
NET has contacted Storm Records, the very popular label that houses the rapper. The management say that they are not aware of the on-going drama but will look into in immediately.
Interestingly, Storm says that if they (FBS) paid a deposit and they could not complete payment, then they would have to forfeit the advane.
That’s standard for over 50 years in this industry globally. Revert tomorrow and I am sure we will have a handle on it’, Storm 360 CEO, Obi Asika said in an E-mail correspondence with NET.
And of course you know we stand with Naeto regardless of what they say!’, he added.
