Nollywood Actresses Offer S*x For Role : Movie Director Speaks Out

Popular Nollywood movie director Amaechi Ukeje, has rubbished the constant accusations from actresses who claim sexual harassment from producers and directors is rampant in the movie industry. He instead claims that the actresses keep offering themselves. Showing up naked and sending n*de photos just to seduce them for roles.

According to him, the men are the ones who deal with unprecedented offers from women. And it literally takes the grace of God to avoid sexual temptations from these women.

Addressing the issue of s*xual harassment in the industry, Amaechi said:

“The ones who have got talent are not the problem but those ones who have absolutely nothing to offer are the ones harassing us all the time thats why it’s difficult for producers to resist them.

“I don’t know if it’s like that in other industries but the entertainment industry, especially Nollywood, am saying it with no apology, the directors and producers don’t harass ladies, it’s the other way round. These actresses who have no talent harass us sexually just to get what they want. What do you do when they keep sending you nude photos and showing up in your office nude?

“They Sexually harass us both physically, on the phone and they really have to be disciplined. For the strong ones among us, we always know how to walk across it but for those who aren’t that strong,it’s difficult for them.”

Actresses Onyeka Onwenu And Patience Ozokwor Allegedly Fight Dirty

According to ThisDay newspaper...
The President Goodluck Jonathan 2015 presidential campaign has left a lot of bad blood in its wake; turning sisters against sisters and causing erstwhile good friends to be at daggers drawn.

One of the irreconcilable differences brought about by Jonathan’s recent bid for the presidency is the brawl between the singer, broadcaster, actor and Director General, National Women Centre, Onyeka Onwenu and popular actor, Patience Ozokwor.

Onwenu had made it her business to have a majority of the creative population in Nigeria channel their request to see Jonathan and/or participate in his campaign.

For an actor or musician to go around Onwenu to see Jonathan, his/her connection in
Aso Rock Villa had to be very strong. So Onyeka was allegedly miffed when Ozokwor managed to get attention from Aso Rock on her steam. Try as she did to issue an order that Ozokwor should revert to her, it just didn’t work. Ozokwor must have summoned extraneous powers from the ‘evil’ role she frequently plays in Nollywood to keep Onyeka off her track.

The fracas between the two women was not unconnected with who should control disbursement of the Jonathan campaign fund to a group of certain artistes. At one of the meetings, the centre just couldn’t hold any more and things fell apart. Onwenu and Ozokwor allegedly openly abused themselves and called each other names. It took the intervention of Dame Patience Jonathan to calm the fighting women. They simply respected her but have continued to trade tirade at every opportunity

War on Piracy!!! Yemi Sodimu to leads anti-piracy protest on April 20

yemi sodi

In recent years, the quality of Nollywood movies has been so poor and one of the reasons movie makers give for producing cheap and poor movies is that the degree of piracy in Nigeria will make them not profit from good quality movies. It took the intervention of new generation directors and producers who wanted to raise the bar and standard of Nollywood movies to start soliciting  for funds to make good quality movies.
Award winning director, Kunle Afolayan who recently produced and directed October 1, the best film of the year 2014 has said he has not made up to half the amount of money he spent making the great movie because of the activities of Piracy.
The unauthorised reproduction/recording (piracy) of movies like Kunle Afolayan‘s October 1, Ayo Makun‘s 30 Days in Atlanta and others and the sales of such have prompted a reaction from Nollywood practitioners. But unlike several times in the past when people would just condemn these actions and move on, practitioners seem ready to swing into action. NET gathered that practitioners in the movie industry will gather for a peaceful protest march against Piracy on Monday, April 20, 2015. The protesters, to be led by Yemi Sodimu, Yinka Akanbi and others, will converge at Ikeja under bridge and March through Alausa and Ikeja environs to register their displeasure....

More Nollywood Stars React To President Jonathan's Election Loss

Reporters met with some pro Jonathan Nollywood stars and asked for their thoughts after Jonathan lost. Below are some response:

Omoni Oboli

“I can never regret anything I do. I stood for what I believe in, not because of financial gain. At the end of the day, the victory goes to Nigeria. This election showed true democracy and I am proud of the man that I supported. He is a hero. He conceded graciously and that is the trait of a true leader. This is democracy and nobody should work against me because I supported Jonathan.”

Lancelot Imasuen,
“It is just that I want to use the opportunity to celebrate President Goodluck Jonathan for his uprightness. If a man that has been tagged as weak and clueless demonstrated something we thought was almost impossible in Nigeria, I eternally want to celebrate him. I will never regret campaigning for Jonathan and if this election is done again, I will still campaign for him. Why would I regret supporting him? I was not coerced or bribed into it. I was not given money, I was convinced and I still stand by my conviction. If that would make me face the international court, I am ready to face it. While supporting Jonathan, I did not kill anybody; I was only using the word of mouth to convince people.”

Segun Arinze,
“I stood for what I believed in and if I had the opportunity, I would do it all over again. I do not ever regret campaigning for Jonathan. If I believed in Buhari, I would have done the same thing. I wish him all the best and hope he would take the country to a better place. It is no longer about Buhari or Goodluck but about Nigeria.
“I am not a card carrying member of PDP; I supported the President because I believed he has done well for my industry and Nigeria as a whole. I am a Nigerian and I have every right to the freedom of expression. Being silent would be foolhardy on my part. In 2011, I was campaigning for Fashola, why was I not silent at that time? We are all Nigerians and I don’t think Buhari would victimise me because I supported Jonathan.”
Fidelis Duker,

“I can never regret supporting President Goodluck Jonathan. When he is having a welcome party at Otuoke, I will be there with him. He has done very well and I am still very proud of him. It has never happened in the history of Nigeria where an incumbent will lose and he will walk away.”

Nollywood Stars Reportedly Fight Over Patience Jonathans’ N3m

This is disgraceful! According to reports, the recent visit of First Lady Dame Patience Jonathan to Enugu has left a big scar on Nollywood.

This is because the police in the State are currently looking for ways to settle the bitter feud that engulfed the artistes’ community in the state over how an alleged First Lady’s largesse would be shared among top actors who attended her rally.

This feud has seemingly put one group known as Nollywood Apostles against other stakeholders in Enugu State led by Patience Ozokwor popularly known as Mama G, making it very difficult for the center to hold.

As at last Thursday, some of Nollywood’s big wigs involved were still angry and had refused to show up at the Police Area Command, Abakpa Nike, Enugu where the case was domiciled. The Area Commander had arranged for them to settle the matter amicably.

Checks reveal that Nollywood Apostles comprising some of the best faces in the movie industry including Steve Ajebo Eboh, Charles Awurum, Emeka Enyiocha, Benedict Johnson, Chinwe Owoh, and Ngozi Ezeonu among others had been featuring at several PDP campaign rallies including the one that brought Dame Jonathan to Enugu.

According to a source, trouble started after the departure of the First Lady when facilitators of the rally, Patience Ozokwor and Chinyere Wilfred were on stage giving the vote of thanks. An aide to Dame Jonathan had allegedly dropped a parcel containing N3 million into the hands of one of the actors, which he quickly cornered with the connivance of his fellow ‘Apostles’. But the cookies crumbled when the aide called Mama G aside and intimated her of the monetary gift and to whom it was handed.

“The real drama started when the actor who collected the parcel was about to zoom out of the venue in his car. Mama G re-enacted her screen roles for real. In her view, the money was meant for all the stakeholders who graced the rally and not only for the Nollywood Apostles. Mama G stood in the way of the car, yelling and asking to be crushed just as she sent someone to call the police. She didn’t mind being called witch, ashawo and all sorts of unprintable names. She blocked the car until the police came and took all the parties to the station,” a source says.

However, Steve Eboh has denied ever being involved in such a show of shame. He told Entertainer: “I never had anything to do with any money or anything like that. Don’t mind them, my brother. As I speak with you now, I am on my way to see Father Ede in Elele, Rivers State.”

For Charles Awurum, who later returned this reporter’s call after several phone calls made to him, it was denial all the way. Hear him: “I don’t know about any issues concerning Dame Jonathan’s money. I am in Port Harcourt now, please.”

On her part, Patience Ozokwor confirmed the story but she wouldn’t want to elaborate further, until after the elections. “The police have invited everyone to the station for settlement,” she volunteered.

Ramsey Noah Explains Why He doesn't Feature in Lots of Movies Anymore

One name that can't be forgotten when it comes to actors that grazed the stage for the growth of Nollywood is handsome actor, Ramsey Noah. In a new interview with CNN voices, he explains why he doesn't feature in lots of Nollywood movies lately.
He says he no longer wants to be doing “cheap movies” that people could already tell the end from the beginning;
“I am spearheading the “New Nollywood,” so it’s more of getting a good production out and getting a good production out is quite capital intensive.
“You need investors and you need to explain to the investors and let them know what they’re going to benefit if they do get involved. So it’s a long thing, unlike how we just used to do cheap movies and it was like quick — people could actually tell most of our stories from the beginning, they could tell the end already.
I want that to change, hence I don’t do too many of them movies anymore, but the cinema movies are now coming out and when that starts to come out then it would give room to people getting more from the movies.

Why I Criticize Nollywood – Charles Novia Explains

Filmmaker, Mr. Charles Novia is known for his articles that blast various aspects of Nollywood and the entertainment industry in at large.

It was Novia who once stated that two of Nollywood’s biggest actresses, Omotola Jalade-Ekeinde and Genevieve Nnaji, were not great at their craft. His criticisms are usually seen as “bad belle” and he has often been challenged on his mastery of his profession. One of the actresses at the receiving end of his diatribes once labeled him a “failed filmmaker.” At a recent film festival in Abuja, PREMIUM TIMES cornered Mr. Novia to ask him about his “reputation.”
On his critiques, Mr. Novia said:
“I’m a filmmaker and then I’m a critique but it is good for one within the system to be a critique. We need to be speaking for ourselves and for my colleagues in the system to realise that I’m one who speaks from the heart and says things the way they are. They (should) not feel bad about it. They (should) know that I’m one who speaks from an objective point of view. It means that one is appreciated as it were. I think there are more of the critiques in Nollywood like me but they don’t have the liver as it were to come out.”

The director then went on to defend his right to appraise Nollywood by citing his contributions to the industry.

“I think you should do a little bit of history of my films. I’m there on Google. I have done over 40 movies and discovered some of the biggest stars you have in Nollywood today; to name a few: Desmond Elliot, Caroline Danjuma, Empress Njamah, Grace Amah… There are many that I’ve brought out from my stables. I keep on doing talent development. I wrote the first book on Nollywood as a filmmaker. I am a member of the Oscar Award committee in the Academy awards. There are a lot of things which one has done at the risk of sounding immodest.”
